Recs if you like Beautyland...

An emergent subgrene by and about strange women on themes of female rage, sisterhood, hunger, attraction, beauty, motherhood, violence, and much more.

a collection of autistic coded characters in fiction [ recommendations welcome! ]

this is for aesthetics only

books that feel like the moment at the end of a movie when the protagonist has been through hell and back, gets into a cab, and gazes silently out the window as she goes home. she smiles ever so slowly before the screen fades to black.

Weird, gory, and or disturbing. We support women's wrongs here.

I'm a human. Just like you. I walk like you, talk like you...I'm just like you...Right? Books where a main character is not entirely human and/or is an alien, monster, spirit, eldritch horror, etc. who has disguised themself as a human. Do they want to be human? Or do they want to eat humans? Or some secret third thing? Who knows? You decide. (Please comment your suggestions!)

weird. strange. off putting. confusing. despite this you cannot put these books down.

All sorts of stories about all sorts of women. Mostly litfic, some horror.

(Please read the title of the list to the tune of Purple Rain 😂) - Books with purple covers!

books that stick with you for months and leave you thinking

More like “odd girl fiction” than “weird girl fiction” — essentially suspected autism, based solely on vibes. Personally verified by me and my autism

With a big scoop of melancholy!

It’s always nice to feel like a normal person by reading about those more unhinged than you 😌 These are all women focused books. Some I’ve read and some I’m going to read. Apologies in advance if it gets long. Recommendations are absolutely welcome!! So please feel free.

I know a couple are written by men which might be taboo for some but I’ve included because I thought they were appropriate or the author has a track record of writing women well.

Unique novels with concepts unlike any other book I've ever read or heard of. Recommendations welcome!

Fiction books of different genres that l've read so far that portray grief in a good and relatable way (not necessarily as the main topic)

Ps: I'm always open to read more about this topic, so please feel free to recommend me more!

In the bookclub IG channel her and her @teatime.pictures team also shared deep dives into the books and insights about them, often curated by the authors themselves ✨ From October 2026 the bookclub moved to Substack!
