This one was really good. I had been reading the last few Gabaldons kind of out of obligation, but had often gotten so lost in the plot and the characters. This one kind of goes back to basics, and a lot of the characters are now in the same place (and time), so it's much easier to follow. Plus, American Revolution. Good stuff.
DNF'd afer 500 some pages so this counts towards my challenge.
I read this for a video where I read the last 10 years of goodreads winners. It was something. If your curious here are my full thoughts.
FINALLY up to the last book that's published. Little miffed I couldn't drag it out and now I'm just like everybody else in waiting for the next book.
Davina Porter did a divine job, as usual!
This one was good, I personally wanted a little more of Brianna's side of things, though I understood why she got so little page-time. But there could have been a little of Disney, or her saying good-bye to her time! Also, have the stones just become a revolving door now? Roger's gone through at least 4 times, not counting the attempted 1st time, and Bri is at 4 too! The end implies that this nuclear family has made it to Fraser's Ridge, meaning that they traveled only like 25ish years? Starting to be a bit too convenient.
I understand that Gabaldon also wants William to be a main character, but his parts were kind of boring. And I didn't care about Jane or her sister very much. They were a pain and I didn't get why William was so involved with them.
Really have grown to care about Rachel and Ian, like their story line!
Will be interesting to see Jenny react to Roger coming back to Fraser's Ridge, because she should recognize him from her youth but he'll look the same. She will have to be informed of the time travel bit, so that's a lot of people who are in the know....
Looking forward to the next installment!
