Welcome to Grace Valley, California--where blood runs thicker…ties are stronger…and love is all the more sweet Visitors to the town often remark about the valley's peace and beauty--both of which are plentiful. Unlocked doors, front porches, pies cooling in the windows--this is country life at its finest. But visitors don't always see what lies at the heart of a community. Or just beyond… June Hudson grew up in Grace Valley, the daughter of the town doctor. Leaving only to get her medical training, she returned home and followed in her father's footsteps. Some might say she chose the easy, comfortable route…but June knows better. For June, her emergency room is wherever she's needed--or wherever a patient finds her. She is always on call, her work is her life and these people are her extended family. Which is a good thing, since this is a town where you should have picked your husband in the ninth grade. Grace Valley is not exactly the place to meet eligible men--until an undercover DEA agent suddenly starts appearing at all sorts of strange hours. Everybody has secrets down in the valley. Now June has one of her own.

I was reading Virgin River, my first Robyn Carr book that was voted highly (2 votes) on a sparsely voted on listopia. Started the book. Absolutely love it so far (I think we have a 5 starer coming up!). What a delightful suprise Robyn Carr has turned out to be.
In Virgin River the main characters visit with June and Jim and June tells a detailed version of how she and Jim get together. So I read it thinking "wait a minute, there is too much detail here. June has got to have her own book." Her own book, nay. She has her own series.
So far I love it. I love how much you learn about the community she lives in (Grace Valley) and what her day to day life is like (so so different than mine). I also love Jim. How could I not. But he doesn't have a major role in this book ... which I see as a plus because I want him stretch out over the 3 books and I want to learn about Grace Valley living and what it's like to be a doctor in that sort of environment. I don't just want to read about how June and Jim fall in love (although I do think I will be reading about this through the series). What I am saying is that this isn't JUST a love story. And I like that!
Yay Robyn Carr! If you haven't read her stuff, maybe you should. You really can't go wrong. A little love, a little mystery, some small town charm. A great read!
Slow start, amazing finish. This was a feel good type of book. I can't wait to read more about these people in Grace Valley.
