No man, gentleman or otherwise, has ever looked at Lady Edwina Bollash the way the brash, handsome man standing before her is doing now. Edwina has accepted the challenge to transform incorrigible Mick Tremore into a gentleman in just six weeks. And although the linguist is sure she can rise to the task, she isn't at all certain she won't swoon under his frankly sensuous gaze before her job is done.Mick has lived outside of London society long enough to know that appearances can be deceiving. Edwina might look all buttoned up—the perfect English lady—but there is unleashed passion existing just below her placid facade (not to mention a great pair of legs!). And as she prepares him to take his place in society, Mick prepares Edwina to take her place in his heart...and in his bed.

The further I got into this book, the more I fell in love with Mick. For all intents and purposes, this is a retelling of Pygmalion with the “lower class” part being played by the rat catcher Mick and the linguist being played by Lady Edwina Bollash. And boy oh boy is Mick a character. He is brash and ballsy, but he also has a true heart and fantastic morals. He charms all who come into contact with him, including Edwina. Or Winnie, as he calls her.
I love how obvious it is how much Winnie’s staff adores and respects her. As the story of her upbringing unfolds, it’s obvious she didn’t live a charmed life even though she was the daughter of the future duke. Mick doesn’t care about titles but is in awe of Winnie’s brilliant mind and quick wit. I love this couple and how they initially skirt around each other. How they meet, how they come to spend time together, how they take their relationship to the next level, all of it is a joy to read.
Both Mick and Winnie are smarter than anyone gives them credit for and they use those brains when need be. Although the last bit of this book seemed a bit rushed after everything that led up to the moment of truth, I still appreciated how things came together in the end. I think I just loved watching Winnie and Mick fall in love so much I didn’t want it to end.
I should also note, I listened to the audiobook version of this book and the narrator did an amazing job. He easily sucked me into this world and was fantastic with all of the characters, not to mention all of the varied accents of Mick.
