Recs if you like Joust (Dragon Jousters, #1)...

I know there are a couple other dragon lists out there, but a lot of them were missing some of my favourites, so I'm just making my own!

These books the dragons will play a significant role in the plot, even if the focus of the book isn't dragons themselves (like the Hobbit).

For books in a series, I'll only be adding the first one.

Feel free to drop suggestions! I'm trying to include all the dragon books I can.

Just an absolute butt-tonne of dragon books, baby!!

Mostly fiction inspired by Sumerian, Akkadian, Egyptian, Canaanite (and Roman Levant), Hittite, Persian etc…

I see a lot of Greek myth retellings or books inspired by them, but not that much from SWANA.

The period spans from 8th millennium BCE to 7th century BCE. This is very much unique to Sumerian culture. But there aren’t a lot of Sumerian inspired works out there. And since, we’re bound by the constraints of what’s available, I’ve been lax with the criteria.

Books - mostly fantasy, but some scifi - with fantastical creatures. 🐉🦄🐦‍🔥

• Features first book of series or first book in the series that creature(s) appear.
• Avoiding romantasy as there are many recommendation lists.
• Elves, fae, vampires, dwarves, weres, etc are Beings, not Creatures imo. So not included.

A collection of older, lesser-known, fantasy (or science fantasy) books written by incredible women. In a time when female fantasy authors were few and far between, these authors carved out their own space in the genre. These stories might not be mainstream hits today, but they are full of brilliant magic, deep characters, and/or worlds that helped shape the genre. (First in Series / standalones only for now - open to suggestions!)
