About the Book "The Great Wall of China" ("Beim Bau der Chinesischen Mauer") is a short story written by Franz Kafka in 1917. It was not published until 1931, seven years after his death. Max Brod selected stories and published them in the collection Beim Bau der Chinesischen Mauer.

I don't know, I rather liked this short story. I found it mildly amusing how he points out the absurdity of how the Great Wall of China was built. It was built to provide protection yet they have so many gaps in it that it almost defeats the purpose of the wall altogether. Better than "The Metamorphosis" in my opinion.
