Someone made a post about this and I thought it was a great list idea. I know I really need books that have more positivity and hope for the future, so hopefully this will help someone else too.

Self-contained SFF books that belong to a series, offering a complete story without a multi-book commitment. A perfect way to sample immersive worlds while limiting potential disappointment – yet still leaving more to explore if you liked it.

These are not a reflection of how good the series is as a whole. Just strictly if book two is better than book one.
