I definitely enjoyed this book, but due to it's length I don't think it added all that much more to the original books. The illustrations inside the books are detailed enough that you can easily forgo this manual and still have a vivid idea of the beasties and ships that Westerfeld describes in the series. It's still worth picking up if you have access to it!
