This is a standalone written by Juliet Marillier that brings us the story of Caitrin and Anluan.

Caitrin is on the run and ends up in Whistling Tor, a place filled with mystery and secrets. In there, she finds a job as scribe in a scary place but a place where she will be protected.

Anluan is a young chieftain and he has to endure his family sins and he is tortured by his family past. When Caitrin comes to the scribe job she brings hope to him and his secrets.

What a epic story this was! I loved this world, it was fascinating, filled with mystery and suspense until the end of the book. I loved how the romance of this book was a slow burn, I loved how Caitrin and Anluan friendship blossom and how they started trusting each other. I loved every single character os this story, living or death, every single one of them was important to this book. This might be one of the best retellings that I've read and I highly recommend this masterpiece.
