This book needs an editor (or a better one).
There are so many interesting ideas in that story, that I'd have loved to learn more about, only for it to never be mentioned again. I was also missing a glossary for all the fantasy terms getting thrown at us like we should know what a panom is or how a waholt looks like.
Also this book has major pacing issues. It feels like the author wanted so hard to stick to their "POV switch with every chapter" -structure, that she stretched storylines where nothing happens way too far and cuts interesting storylines short. The most irritating part is that many chapters end on a mini-cliffhanger, then you rush through the next chapter to get back to that POV, only for all the action and interesting stuff already being over.
    About the characters:
Hope Nevada is Katniss everdeen but with a cringe name. The only thing I do like about her is that she is adamant about having at least 10 knives on her at all time. Shes constantly raving about how beautiful her friend Nina is, which made me hope for LGBT rep, but its pretty obvious that shes supposed to end up with a man.
Lenna is a rebellious and idealistic magical heir, who is very comfortable in her sexuality, which is actually really fun to see in a woman! Unfortunately she abandons most of her rebellious and feminist ideals as soon as a hot "bad boy" shows up. She has many opportunities for character development, that usually get solved by other people before she can actually do any significant developing.

this was something new for me, I picked this book up during stuff your kindle day, because this book sounded so interesting and fun and the cover is very pretty. in the end this was not a book for me for multiple reasons but I do believe this is a very solid debut novel that is interesting for other readers.

lets start with what I liked
the magic systems is really interesting
    it has enemies to lovers
    strong female characters
the mother of hope has some amazing quotes and moments

    things I did not like:
I had an hard time understanding the magic system felt often confused with it
I did not really like the characters only two and those were hope & lenna. for the others I just didn't care.
I found the plot a little bit confusing some moments a lot was happening and in some nothing.
the dialogue was fun but a little bit cheesy in my opinion

but I would recommend this to reader who love a court of thorns and roses + the serpent and the wings of night + from blood of ash

and I wish that people will give this a try and find a new favorite book because I believe this book has that potential for others.
