This book was a trip. I've seen a lot of "love at first sight" moments in books and this one was no different. But the mystery surrounding the story seemed to make it even better.
The truth about who was who and how certain items ended up with others was fun. Kind of felt a bit rushed when all of that comes to light right in the last two chapters, right before the end of the book. As Adrik had faced with Nikolai in The Savage, I had been curious about him, knowing this book was going to be read soon.
I would have liked to see how Nadia, from a family who was on their way to becoming more legal, would fair in a family who was still but what we got was really fun.
The book felt really short and rushed while also taking its time. Once again, it was more detail and inner monologue heavy, like Anton, but it still got the feeling across. This one I enjoyed more than Anton and I'm not 100% sure why. Maybe Nadia and Nikolai were just more interesting? I'm not sure.
Well, next up is Luca, which according to the Colors of Crime, comes first in the timeline. They seem to work in pairs. Anton leading into Nikolai and Luca leading into Black. I have theories about that connection and I'll be interested to see if I hit the nail on the head or just miss it.
Only one way to find out.
