Recs if you like How To Survive This Fairytale...

Books written in or featuring 2nd person POV

Do you feel like you've read everything there is to read? Or get annoyed that the same books are on all the rec lists? Well, here are some more obscure masterpieces!

Some of the covers are terrible - especially among the older or self-pubbed books; there's a few YA in here; and some that are science fantasy rather than 'pure' fantasy. But trust me: they're all EXCELLENT. (And if you already love a bunch of these, let's be friends!)

not sure i would take these books titled “how to” or “guide to” at face value but your mileage may vary.

taking suggestions, as always.

A collection of titles that all start with "how to" that aren't actually how-to guides...suggestions welcome!

Is it bury your gays if they're all queer?

Books written in second person

Retellings of classics, fairy tales and myths with a queer twist

Fantasy ebooks available through the Kobo Plus subscription. If you have any recommendations, please let me know! For book series, I've only put the first book, but the entire series will usually be available. For some series, the first book is also free but the rest are available through Kobo Plus.

I think the title makes it clear? It could be retelling of Swan Lake, or it simply has swans in it.

A list of all Indie Ink Award Finalists from 2026 that I could find on here (I'll add more as they're added to Pagebound--just let me know), minus any I'm aware used AI in any capacity (cover, etc)

Idk how they (birds) found me, but everywhere I've gone since i found Mail Order Wings in an elementary school classroom library I've been followed by human-avian hybrid body horror themes in books ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Books where the protagonist gets to go back and try again (companion to my Time Loops list)
