Idk how they (birds) found me, but everywhere I've gone since i found Mail Order Wings in an elementary school classroom library I've been followed by human-avian hybrid body horror themes in books ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Oooooh!! Thank you!! I actually picked it up at a bookstore a few months ago but didn't end up buying it, so this has redoubled my interest 👀
Reading it right now, the language is beautiful. I don't know if it becomes any more relevant but I think the early moment I'm thinking of definitely fits enough of what you're looking for.
I also still have another book I'd rec you which I vaguely feel like I might have already recommended, but I don't want to spoil it for anyone.....so alas I'll have to get it to you another way hehe -- if i haven't already!
