Yāallā¦. Iām so serious..
Does anyone have any book recommendations that fall into the historical fiction category? Some fantasy elements would be fine, but preferably not like high fantasy magic systems and dragons and stuff like that. Iāve been SUPER into weird girl medieval fiction lately. I need books set in the past that feel like youāre reading something secret and precious and thrilling! I love a macabre/dark academia vibe, and prefer not to read historical fiction stories about war or politics. (I know I could look at lists to find books like this, but I like hearing peopleās reasons for why they enjoyed something when I look for recommendations.)
For instance I have recently read Hamnet, The Starving Saints, Piranesi (which doesnāt really fall into the historical category but felt like it at first?) and I have devoured and enjoyed all of Madeline Millerās works. Same with Hungerstone, Lapvona, and What Moves the Dead.
Please help cure me of my big ass slump š

This is an introduction to modern poetry, with a focus on breadth of voices and styles rather than depth. In the words of Leonard Cohen, "poetry is just the evidence of life...if your life is burning well, poetry is just the ash." This quest is for those who love poetry, hate poetry, want to write it, read it, or perhaps have nothing to do with it (or all of that at once)!
