I'm glad i read the authors note at the end, because it put the brevity of this book a little bit more in context (originally written as a short story to be broadcast on the radio). However, in such a short form where i didn't have the benefit of the audio medium, it felt abrupt and lacking in depth.
I did enjoy it enough to wish there was more though! and i continue to want to read piranesi, so we'll see if i enjoy it more after reading that

So I'm doing the Massachusetts Center for the Book 2026 Reading Challenge, and it's halfway through the first month of the challenge and i still haven't found a book that is:
A.) Set during winter B.) Either in my home library already or available through my library libby catalogs C.) Able to grab & keep my attention 😭
I'm honestly just crowdsourcing recs now because i really don't want to flunk out of the challenge in the first month (if you read a book for every month's prompt during that month you get entered into a big giveaway).
Preference for queer books in the speculative fiction genre!! TIA!!!
