Recs if you like The Mystery of Edwin Drood...

Stories that traded chapters for showtunes! From literary classics to contemporary novels these books found a second life under the Broadway lights! Please let me know any that I've missed!! (Note on curation: I've been cross checking titles with Internet Broadway Database (IBDB) which is Broadway's official archive)

A list of 100 gothic classics which covers over 250 years of literature, from the high-drama castles of the 1700s to the psychological "New Gothic" of today.

As a massive bookworm and theatre nerd, this list was inevitable.

Here's me keeping track of (most) of the books mentioned in this non-fiction adventure, for the good of all of us.

There is also a reading list at the back of the book, but I think I got them all.

These are books, short stories or poems (and poetry collections) that were interrupted before the advent of the Internet because something happened to the author (like them getting into a situation, dying... suddenly becoming a merchant). List in progress!

Theater has long drawn inspiration from books, with works across time, genre, and subject matter having stage adaptations. You're sure to know some big names, but others might surprise you! How many have you seen?

Under construction! All the novels are in here, but I'm still considering how to handle short stories.

fiction and non-fiction literature books that help me feel cool and cultured 😎 as listed in the Hardcore Literature Book Club with Benjamin McEvoy, on Patreon

Called "the definitive library of mystery fiction". Howard Haycraft originally published the list in 1941 in Murder for Pleasure. It was updated and broadened by Ellery Queen. This is the final revision, including books from 1748 to 1952.

These books are historically significant because of their influence on the development of crime fiction, however books from these times often contain bigoted and otherwise offensive content.

I haven't read them all, or even a high percentage. I'm trying to keep track of how many on this list I read.

I could only find a Spanish language version of A Case to Answer by Edgar Lustgarten.
