I've been reading genre romance for going-on-30 years now and I wanted to highlight some of the books that I've enjoyedbut that have either faded into obscurity or never made it big to begin with. Be Aware! Some of these books are going to be pretty dated! Please check the original publishing dates so you know what you're getting into. Complex, often unlikeable antiheroines are some of my favorite women in historical romance. Unrepentant social climbers, gold-diggers, gossips. Strident, cold, sexually-liberated. All welcome, along with the besotted men they leave in their wake!

Book Attic

Historical romance books where she is NOT a sweet, forgiving angel. Only badass women with a backbone, who are at times cold, vindictive, selfish, scheming, etc.

Romance novels where he fucks up and she's like byeeee... and then he's like, "What have I done??"

I love when pretty people fall in love and get HEA…
