Maggie I’m a life-long, card-carrying member of the nice list, mostly because I never wanted anything badly enough to stray. But oh, holy night, do I want Gabe Costa. There's just one problem. When he speaks to me, my lips refuse to work. If he so much as glances in my direction, I freeze in place as firmly as a kid licking a metal pole in the dead of winter. I can’t even return a wave without my hand getting out of control. But this year is going to be different. I'm claiming my spot on the Naughty List, and I'm starting with the candlemaker who seems to know exactly what it takes to make me melt. Gabe Last Christmas, I struck out. I made the single worst first impression mankind has ever seen, but I can’t let that stop me. Not when I want something as badly as I want Maggie Richards. I’m back in Sugar Creek, with a plan and a brand-new skillset. Learning sign language for her was just the beginning of my plan, but it seems Maggie came prepared with one of her own. One where I get a week to help her join the naughty list… and she gets to jingle my bells. Maggie doesn’t know it yet, but when the time comes to pack up the mistletoe, I'm not going anywhere. She’s the only woman for me, and I'd sooner suck an elf ear than walk away now. The only thing I can do, is convince her that this one Christmas isn't enough... - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Polish your jingle bells, strategically hang the mistletoe, and get ready to claim your spot on The Naughty List. This holiday season, fourteen of your favorite authors are spicing up the cocoa and taking advantage of those long winter nights, proving that sometimes it’s more fun to claim your coal than it is to stay on Santa’s good side. After all, well-behaved women might make the nice list, but naughty ones have all the fun…

Gabe sees Maggie across the crowded winter carnival. He's immediately taken with her but struggles to communicate with her because she is deaf, and he doesn't know sign language. He decides he is playing the long game and returns to his home in Chicago and takes ASL classes. He also makes plans for a permanent move to the small town where the carnival is held, and Maggie lives. Gabe returns to town just before the carnival for this year and waves at Maggie from afar. Now he really can't stop thinking about her. They bump into each other at the bar, and he shows her he knows how to sign. She also lets him know that she got a cochlear implant so she can hear him too! Gabe plays it slow and walks away, but Maggie decides to "claim her coal". Maggie walks up to Gabe and kisses him. They leave together and go home together. Spiciness ensues and Maggie is trying to satisfy herself that their short time together during the carnival will be enough. But Gabe shows her something that might lead to long term plans.
