The character & setting/scene building is fully laid out and interesting. I like the mix of starting the book in our reality and then transitioning into fantasy. The characters are interesting and the female MC is strong, smart, and humble.

I also really like the different take of popular supernatural types and the fact that the story was left open-ended and the conflict was not solved made me interested in reading the next book to find out what is going to happen.
