Fantasy Academia
Many of these are the beginning of series, but all of them are about academics in fantasy settings. All cross genres are welcome.

Dragons
I know there are a couple other dragon lists out there, but a lot of them were missing some of my favourites, so I'm just making my own!
These books the dragons will play a significant role in the plot, even if the focus of the book isn't dragons themselves (like the Hobbit).
For books in a series, I'll only be adding the first one.
Feel free to drop suggestions! I'm trying to include all the dragon books I can.

Dragons, dragons, dragons!
A compendium of books featuring dragons

language, linguistics and translation in fantasy

π Here Be Dragons π
Just an absolute butt-tonne of dragon books, baby!!

π Dragons π
Dragons everywhere. From tiny, mischievous hatchlings to wise, ancient sky-soarers, these books are packed with scales, sparks, and heart. Expect warmth, wonder, and at least a little fire.

Here Be Dragons
Not all dragons are book worms, but they love a good story.

Some gems, some disasters... All selected for the cover. Contents may vary. Read at your own risk. ... *NB: There are different editions out there, but these are specifically the ones available here. ... Most of these I've seen in the book store. I've not read all of these but hopefully will one day. Recommendations are welcome.

Romantasy with A-grade character work π€―βοΈ
Books where the story is brought to another level by the character development, be it in the complex character building or the multi layered character arc. The writer made the characters like facets, every angle and every relation gives them yet another aspect to further deepen the dynamic between characters. Every little bit of past revealed shows us the way they became who they are now. Leaving us with characters arcs that feel like an entire story on their own that impacts the greater plot.

wait, am i the problem?
are you saving the world? or is the world saving you?
(mainly) fantasy books with (any combination of) morally grey characters, corrupt leadership, and maybe a perspective twist or two.

Morally questionable MCs
Books that deal with political and social themes through the eyes of a morally questionable main character (for context, my reason for making this list is to find more books with MCs as unbearable as Sciona from Blood over Bright Haven πΰΎΰ½²ΰΎΰ½²)

Linguistics (fiction and non-fiction)
Non-fiction books about linguistics and fiction which relates to linguistics in some way (disclaimer: some connections are looser than others and I have not read all of these books)

High fantasy wishlist by pharaoh Ramesses II
"By the breath of Set, what sorcery is this?! These scribes of the far north and the distant west have imagined worlds that almost - almost - match the splendor of my own court. They speak of dragons? I have hunted lions in the heat of the Retjenu! They speak of rings of power? I wear the crown of the Two Lands, which binds the world from the Delta to the cataracts of Kush! βStill... there is a certain charm to these 'high fantasies' that I can not deny."
