Recs if you like Matriarch: A Memoir...

Nominees and winners of every category of the Good Reads Choice Awards for the year of 2025. Some books overlap so they were only entered once.

I’m an audiobook lover, and I’m always looking for great audiobooks! Rather than just listing my favorites, I thought I’d make a list of audiobooks that have won Audie Awards from 2021-2026.

There are so many, so I stuck to specific categories. Not all categories are in all years, so there is some inconsistency. I included the following categories:

For a long time, memoirs have been focused on the experience of men, in particular white men. Here is a list of various kinds of memoirs by black women to empower those voices that are often silenced :)

Growing list of memoirs I have read or want to read that have been discussed on Chelsea Devantez's podcast, Glamorous Trash.

Whether it’s the plot, an inspirational concept, or a particularly peculiar character, something about these books left my jaw dropped and my thoughts changed forever. Some deeply disturbed me (shoutout to Earthlings), while others changed my perspective on life in a simple but profound way… So you’ve been warned, read at your own risk of having your mind blown!

Nonfiction is not in my top three favorite genres. It’s not even in my top ten. But the books in this list create an exception. I’ll always want more of whatever makes these special— storytelling, insight, a profound perspective… With more reads like these, I’m sure to become a nonfic lover in due time.
