Recs if you like The Keeper of Lonely Spirits...

This is like literary sorbet, books that are simple, sweet, and pretty easy to digest when you want to turn your brain off, decompress after a big, intense book, or break out of a reading slump.

Speculative fiction (fantasy, horror, sci-fi, etc.) about, or prominently featuring, ace characters. This includes demisexual characters and ace-spec characters as well! 🖤🤍💜 corrections & recommendations welcome <3

Note: used to be titled “For My Fellow Garlic Bread Lovers” but I worried it would cause confusion or not enough clarity on what the list was about (still keeping the bread emoji tho)

Perfect for fantasy lovers with not enough hours in the day!

Feel free to mention any I missed in the comments 😊

Fiction and non-fiction in which a main character, prominent supporting character, or narrator is canonically/confirmed to be on the asexual (ace) spectrum.

📓Canon: Confirmed by either the text or original creator. (Subtextual/implied and circumstantial characters can be found on my other ace list)

❕Disclaimer: I have not read all these books. Please feel free to correct me in the comments if I have made a mistake in my research. Or if you have any new titles to recommend.

Cozy and magical, books you can curl up with and read about magical worlds, great storytelling, and otherworldly romance

In which a main character sees ghosts 👻

Protagonists and supporting characters who see and/or hear the dead / ghosts

Fairy tale and folklore-inspired narratives as well as atmospheric/quiet/light fantasy with canon aspec characters, aspec-readable themes such as rejection of relationship hierarchy and meaningful companionships, or simply excluding elements of either sexuality or romance. Limiting these to books aimed at adults but will include kidlit that may resonate with older audiences too, such as classics or kidlit with older protagonists.

i am trying my darndest to give this genre niche its best shot

A depressingly short list of old man yaoi. Both characters need to be 40+, or at least darn close to 40 - not just one old man x one younger man age gap romance (not that I don't love that too, but it's not old man yaoi imho). No, 40+ isn't "old" by any objective measure, but even finding stories like that is hard, if we make it actual old man yaoi, it'll be even harder.

Do you want a book that will rip your heart out, show it to you, kiss it, then gently push it back into your chest? If so, then this list is for you. This list is full of books where the main character believes they are unworthy, unlovable, worthless, that no one would ever want them, etc but are proven wrong.

Recs are welcome. I am always on the lookout for more books like this, so if you know one that fits this description please recommend it.

These Books changed my brain chemistry and I want more people to read them.

Light cozy fantasy for when you need a pick me up

I haven't read all of these myself yet, but the ones I haven't come recommended as cozy horror by Book Riot, and I trust them!

Cozy fantasy, with the best trope of all: found family.

Cozy fiction reads perfect for curling up on the couch with a fuzzy blanket & a warm cup of tea. All fiction genres, not just fantasy.

vampires and zombies and ghosts, oh my!
