Recs if you like When the Wind Blows...

Much of the post/apoc genre is taken up by US-centric fiction, giving a very specific mindset & often a similar type of apocalypse. There's a strong focus on guns & military. Settings outside the US can provide us with unusual, diverse & interesting stories of survival

Sister list to: Zombie Apocs - But Not US-centric

Fictional settings allowed. Some books may cross borders, inc sections in the US. Allowance made for US indigenous authors

First of a series only

Suggestions welcome!

For when you need to wallow in melancholy and misery: a collection of pessimistic, cynical, downbeat, depressing, doom and gloom fiction for my disillusioned friends.

More to come!

Got the holiday blues? Check out my list Christmas with the Cranks!

Books that are set in worlds that are either in the midst of facing world ending catastrophes or shortly there after. This list focuses on books that show how humans evolve and survive given the new circumstances they're in.

As always, open to suggestions for additions to the list! 🙂

Much like books to movies but solely focused on animated movies/series! Suggestions welcome!

books you thought were lost to time, never to be seen again 😞 BUT WE GOT EM 🥹 -no mainstream/popular books (BookTok, movie or tv adaptations, series or authors oversaturated within reading apps already) -favour given to books lacking fandom

I think the author is using books as a character and social commentary. I’ve added one film poster & one play reference because they were originally written stories. I wonder if I have missed any.

(Cry Havoc is a wry, compelling, and funnier than expected, mystery at an all girls boarding school in 1980’s UK. Everyone has a secret and everything is going wrong. There’s a strange contagion taking place. A very satisfying read).
