A list of phenomenal books I've either read or that are on my TBR that focus on women or the experiences of women across different ancient societies

The majority of history has been, and still is, written by men. Even when men write about women in history, they often get it wrong, distort the truth to fit moral or political narratives, or just plain have no idea what the female experience is so they miss what’s actually important.

Here is a list of some of history written by female authors, who are looking at history through their female gaze - not through the lense of what men have decided is history.

Ancient heroines, goddesses, villains, and ordinary civilians all fighting for a sliver of agency in traditionally male dominated societies. The mythos surrounding these women may be centuries old, but one thing is certain; a good novel can animate even the most ancient tales.
