A collection of texts inspired by my childhood (and adult -- let's be honest) hyperfixation. Subjects cover the history of and our obsession with ancient Egypt.

Recommendations welcome. Except for anything by Zahi Hawass; he can suck eggs.

(Auto)Biographies, memoirs, and stories of influential women, both well and lesser known

The majority of history has been, and still is, written by men. Even when men write about women in history, they often get it wrong, distort the truth to fit moral or political narratives, or just plain have no idea what the female experience is so they miss what’s actually important.

Here is a list of some of history written by female authors, who are looking at history through their female gaze - not through the lense of what men have decided is history.

Suggestions welcome!

(note: some of these women did participate in crimes against humanity/colonialism/slavery/etc, this list does not condone such behaviours, but is instead determined to bring the lives of influential women into the limelight).
