these are stories that feature children and their coming of age stories in which they are being treated like 'the bad child', as if they're bad seed, spoiled grain, or sometimes even as if they're of the devil. the horrors of childhood are a central theme.

i've decided to only feature literary fiction, some speculative fiction or autofictional titles, and against including horror or fantasy. recs always welcome!! ♥

2026 will be my third year actively trying to read as many Women's Prize For Fiction nominees as I can, and seeing as I have a really high rate of enjoyment I'll be continuing to try and fill in and read the backlist also. I hope this can be a list that I add to that anyone interested in the prize who has similar taste to me can dip into!
