Kylie Scott returns with the highly anticipated follow-up to international bestseller Lick. Mal Ericson, the drummer for the world-famous rock band Stage Dive, needs to clean up his image fast—at least for a little while. Having a good girl on his arm should do the job just fine. Mal doesn't plan on this temporary fix becoming permanent, but he didn't count on finding the one right girl. Anne Rollins never thought she'd ever meet the rock god who plastered her teenage bedroom walls—especially not under these circumstances. Anne has money problems. Big ones. But being paid to play the pretend girlfriend to a wild life-of-the-party drummer couldn't end well. No matter how hot he is. Or could it?

This was a quick and fun read, but fundamentally had some issues for me.

Mal was a fun, crazy character and I was glad to see that he was consistent throughout the book and that he didn't turn off that personality as his life changed and he grew/fell in love. That being said, there was too much joking in this for me, and to have Anne usually just rolling with his comments felt out of character and almost like she was stupid. I was constantly thinking 'wait, what? wtf' in response to Mal and his wacky talk, but Anne was like 'sure, let's go with it', and this felt off compared to how she was described as being so in control and having a history of being protective of her heart.
I think Anne's going along with the craziness Mal brought into her life was sort of explained away as her being "compassionate" or was retroactively made okay because they fell in love. There were multiple instances of her agreeing with him/the situation just because he basically was so damn hot/sexy that her brain derailed. That happening every 5 pages got old fast.

So while it was fun, Mal was constantly riding the line between kooky and obnoxious, and Anne seemed totally unrealistic because she like never really challenged Mal or had issues with his actions. So for me it was insta-love, and because it was a fake relationship there was missing steaminess.
Also, minus a few points for what felt like mildly excessive use of words 'pussy' and 'cock'.
