After Order of the Phoenix, this took literally no time at all to get through- which I wish this book was a bit meatier! I love finally getting to see Voldemort's history (those flashbacks have always been my favorite parts of this book) and Harry's potions book is something that I think could've been featured even more- I would've liked to see more mystery around it, the gang investigating more who it could be, etc. AND SNAPE AS THE DA PROFESSOR! I feel like after a book that spent sooooo much time on the new characters, this one seemed to skip over a lot of what makes it really cool.
Overall, it's great. There is enough here for me to be happy and to read it again and again over the years.
my absolute favorite book in the series. good to know that the death of dumbledore can still bring tears to my eyes. the first time I read it i cried to the point i became sick and had a fever. sirius’s death was much difficult to accept because i skimmed through the chapter and skipped the scene altogether, i couldnt bear reading harry’s pain or wanting to accept that hes dead. Its one of the deaths i cant forgive jk rowling for
who would've thought i'd be crying to harry potter wtf??? 5 ✩ all around even if they were annoying in the first half
I wholeheartedly renounce the actions, thoughts, and transphobic comments by this author. I had already begun this sixth book when I became aware of the comments by J.K. Rowling against the trans community, and have decided to finish my re-read of the series to determine how/if I can move forward as a genuine lover of these characters and this story. This copy was used, and the copy of the last book will also be used or checked out from the library so as not to put more money in this author's pocket.
