Recs if you like Our Dreams at Dusk: Shimanami Tasogare Vol. 1...

LGBT*+ graphic novels / comics / manga +

Fluff to smut, including 18+ etc aka not exclusive to anything specific other than being queer content (queer & queer-rep inclusive stories). I have read a good handful of the ones now at the bottom of the list. Includes intended middle-grade-ish-level youth content to adult audience content.

In progress / updated over time. Mostly serving as an all-in-one-spot list until Pagebound figures something out that works well for multi-genre/format exploration. :)

(recs highly welcome) Attempting a highly exhaustive list.

Manga isn't just for kids! These are titles intended for more mature audiences, including my personal recs and influential, well-known and bestselling titles that are available in English. Whether it's frank discussions of mental illness, abuse, LGBTQIA+ issues, violence, sexuality, horror or dark fantasy, these are manga that either originally ran in seinen (young adult men) or josei (young adult women) magazines, or I've otherwise broadly categorized through research as "not for for kids."

Fiction and non-fiction in which a main character, prominent supporting character, or narrator is canonically/confirmed to be on the asexual (ace) spectrum.

📓Canon: Confirmed by either the text or original creator. (Subtextual/implied and circumstantial characters can be found on my other ace list)

❕Disclaimer: I have not read all these books. Please feel free to correct me in the comments if I have made a mistake in my research. Or if you have any new titles to recommend.

THIS IS NOT A RECOMMENDATION LIST. Inclusion on this list doesn't necessarily mean the rep "worked" for me (as an agender person). There's just so little manga with non-cis characters that this list is literally everything I was able to think of that I've read and meets this criteria. Therefore your mileage may vary on how you feel about the rep contained in them.

I encourage folks to suggest more titles so I can add them! And so I can read them, lmao.

Ah yes, this ol' issue that has plagued librarians and bookstore clerks for decades.

And sometimes you find the right book, but... can you even call that shade blue?

Will have you kicking your feet while you read and feeling butterflies through the pages 🫧 honorable mention to Yuri On Ice, Sk8 Infinity, & all the one shots and independent BL authors I couldn’t add

We get flooded with Yuri and Yaoi of varying quality... so instead here are some manga about the gender queer/transgender experience that aims felt were super refreshing and gave a great view into current LGBT+ struggles in modern Japan. Only the first book in a series is included.

You didn't have the mood to read but still wanna read something? And also, you're queer? Let's be proud of being queer together by reading!

This title is inspired by the phrase: Be Gay, Do Crime

Feel free to recommend some into the list!!

(mostly sapphic) good queer books on my personal wishlist that have an added benefit of looking beautiful on the shelf!

It's free comic books day, and we love comics and graphic novels every day, so here, have over 150 of our favorite graphic novels starring queer characters. (This list is presented by Duck Prints Press, the indie publisher focused on publishing queer art and stories by queer creators! A group of us collaborate to make these recommendations.)

Sept. 25th is National Comic Book Day, and especially in light of recent platform discourse I've seen about graphic novels and manga reading and tracking on Pagebound, we definitely need more great lists for these! This list is all queer titles, recommended by people who work with Duck Prints Press (the indie publisher I run). This list is actually from 2023 so doesn't include recent stuff.

Queer manga that will make you laugh, cry, and feel!

I only put the first volumes of the series

I might update it later

I primarily am only adding first volumes, but these are all series.

my all-time favourite sapphic fiction with sizzling chemistry, guaranteed to make you feel at least 40% gayer after reading!

if only i knew straightness wasn’t a requirement in the kinds of books i loved. always updating with more! mostly angsty romance, instrospective scifi, cozy fantasy.

my favourite manga with thoughtful queer rep!

whispers i protect the family

Graphic novels, comics and manga with heavier or more mature themes. Any genre welcome!

Whether they're making questionable relationship choices, being self-destructive, or downright morally dubious, we support the gay right to be wrong

I asked for some manga recs that were adults (18+) and lgbt+ so I am putting them in this list to share the recs to the world. Thank you to all who helped give so many recs!
