from swooning over prolonged eye contact at a ball with the ton, to intense yearning between two really good friends in 1960s New York, here are some historical romances to get you hooked on the best subgenre

For people who love watching Bridgerton for its diversity and want to read more historical romances that are genuinely diverse

“fem(me)” as in lover, nurturer and fierce protector of the queer community, especially in relation to gender nonconforming butch/stud/masc peers. <3 check out my other list of my favourite butchfemme fiction in general!

Nearly 50 books coming out in the next three months that we're excited to read.

my fave lesbian/sapphic (and culturally related queer) historical period romance novels, mostly pre-victorian era where they have to overcome angsty and tough queer coming-of-age.

your fave iconic lesbian books were written by bi+ authors!!!

mostly to oppose the erasure of essential bisexual participation in lesbian literature and misinformation that bi+ women broadly prefer mlm to wlw. most of these authors have several sapphic books so make sure to check out the rest! many are also nonbinary, trans and/or on the aro/ace spectrums so please be mindful of their pronouns, labels (or lack thereof) and gender identities. suggestions welcomed!

we owe lots of great butchfemme (and derivative masc/fem) rep to bi, pan, queer & unlabeled characters, often by bi+ authors! bi, aspec & trans folks are historically essential participants of butchfemme lesbian/sapphic/queer culture. these books have plurisexual character(s), sometimes through implied attraction transcending gender rather than explicit labels; this includes intersections with gender diversity and asexual/aromantic spectrums. check out my other list on bi butches/studs/mascs!

sapphic reads i've read or on my tbr! mostly fantasy/scifi and contemp, some hisrom and nonfic 📚

curated list of my fave fiction that have authentic and in-depth portrayals of the bi+ experience—often through intersections with gender expansiveness and the aromantic/asexual spectrums—as attraction that transcends gender, and/or the unique simultaneous embodiment of homosexuality and heterosexuality.

Sapphic romance novels set in the past!

Another collection of books saved from TikTok. We don't gatekeep so I compiled them all here.

feminine old-timey fairytail-esque feelgood fantasy/historical fiction that defined girlhood

my all-time favourite sapphic fiction with sizzling chemistry, guaranteed to make you feel at least 40% gayer after reading!

if only i knew straightness wasn’t a requirement in the kinds of books i loved. always updating with more! mostly angsty romance, instrospective scifi, cozy fantasy.
