Short story, essays, comics, and/or poetry collections focusing on queer and trans folks. Please note: there are some collections listed where not every story is queer, but there is intersectionality, and since that is important, I have included them.

Fiction and non-fiction in which a main character, prominent supporting character, or narrator is canonically/confirmed to be on the asexual (ace) spectrum.

The first full week after Valentine's Day every year is Aromantic Spectrum Awareness Week! Here are our recs for books staring aromantic characters! (This list is presented by Duck Prints Press, the indie publisher focused on publishing queer art and stories by queer creators! A group of us collaborate to make these recommendations.)

Fairy tale and folklore-inspired narratives as well as atmospheric/quiet/light fantasy with canon aspec characters, aspec-readable themes such as rejection of relationship hierarchy and meaningful companionships, or simply excluding elements of either sexuality or romance. Limiting these to books aimed at adults but will include kidlit that may resonate with older audiences too, such as classics or kidlit with older protagonists.
