Recs if you like Dear Mothman...

While it is highly celebrated in June, the Queer community exists all year long and this working list is created to support/encourage others to read more literature written by & represented people within said community.

Reading suggestions for the Trans Rights Readathon! (Any year of course). Books with trans characters of any label (or any non-cis gender identity) by trans/non-cis authors. I have not read all the books in this list. Feel free to name your fave books by trans authors in the comments!

I tried to include most books I know or that have been recommended that either have transfem, transmasc or nonbinary main characters. I only add first in series!

Fiction reads with trans masc characters and/or by trans masc authors

See my trans Rights readathon suggestions masterlist for more trans reads! 🏳️‍⚧️

(Under construction 🏗 🚧 many more books to be added! Suggestions welcome!)

Non-fiction and fiction books with moths in them. That's it. That's the list. PS: Why isn't there a moth emoji already?!?

& now you're having some complicated feelings about gender. Books full of characters who come to terms with themselves. Recs welcome, per usual.

Middle grade, YA and Adult fictional books with canon autistic main characters

Queer middle grade books that make you wish you had these books growing up Inspired by the queer middle grade quest - check that out! Would love suggestions!

There’s now LGB without the T and I want to celebrate and uplift Trans authors! Let’s also remember how much the Trans community has done for the queer community as a whole and uplift their stories year round, not just during pride month.

Of course, this isn't the only recommendation list out there for the Trans Rights Readathon. I encourage everyone to check out all the different lists! This list is made up of books I've personally enjoyed, am currently reading, or plan to read (so this is pretty tailored, lol). I'll keep editing this list as I finish books and find more books I want to read. Everything here is either written by a trans author and/or features trans main characters/focuses on trans issues.

A compilation of MG books that are written in verse.

When the heart bleeds, the mind does what it can to defend against hurt. In these books, this manifests in not-so-typical fixations that may help or might just harm.

Books about Trans Men and Trans Masc People

Sad queer books. Beware of tears. Inspired by the Tragic Love: Queer Edition Quest. Middle grade, teen, and adult books

Books to feel connected to your queerness (credit to all my fellow boundlings' recs from the PB club!!)

These are books that deal with grief, but feel gentle. It's a lot of graphic novels and even some kid's books. A lot of these are stories that are light or made me feel held in a way. The nonfiction ones had good facts, but were also reassuring and/or didn't involve a lot of heavy details that some grief books can have.

Attention campers! It’s time to gather around the fire for a few stories of our favorite elusive pals…cryptids!

Middle grade and young adult books that can teach us adults a thing or two!
