First 5-star read of 2025! Wooo! Jess Christine has done it once again with the second installment of her Romance Rehab series. She got me to fall in love with her characters and story. It was just so hard not to be drawn into the book from the beginning. I mean how could I not? Both Lacey and Jace just have a way of captivating one's attention with the way they carry themselves and deal with situations. It was quite entertaining to see these two try to fight their VERY palpable chemistry. I mean it was so obvious they had unfinished business and I loved seeing them navigate through it. I really feel like Jess does a wonderful in mixing in the past and present in a way that makes it so much easier to connect and feel for her characters. It just added what I consider to be a special touch when it came to Jace and Lacey's story.
Now, while I love Jace and Lacey, I cannot write a review on this book without giving mention or credit to their wonderful group of friends. The group of friends and found family featured in this book was one of the greatest I have seen. They all had me cackling with the way they'd tease both of the MCs in their own way and that's not even going into their group chats. I loved the strong sense of friendship and love that is constantly demonstrated between this group of friends. I really cannot wait to see what Jess has in store for them in the future installments of the series.
I definitely recommend this book for any fans of second chance, friends to lovers, found family, he falls first/harder, and it’s always been you tropes. This is quite the amazing book that will have you feeling all types of emotions. I absolutely devoured it and will be obsessing about it like a lunatic the same as I did with Jess' first book (which I also recommend). Cannot wait to see what else this amazing author has in store!

Tropes:
- wildlife photographer & occupational therapist
- second change
- miscommunication
- childhood friends to lovers
- slow burn
- it's always been you
- open door
- dual POV
- dual timeline
I enjoyed the story, but I felt there wasn’t enough chemistry between the characters. The plot of this book reminded me a lot of the movie Atonement—if you liked it, I think you’ll enjoy this book too.
Thank you to Jess Christine for providing this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
