Suggestions from a girl who wrote her BA thesis on psychological manipulation and identity control in cults.

Moving beyond media spectacle and sensational narratives, these books examine the psychological, sociological, and historical frameworks that define high-control groups. Included are also non fiction books that provide insightful portrayals of cults and their impact on individual identity as well as group behavior.

I recently realised I love all things maritime, especially in fiction. My favourite movies, museums, books, even childhood stories all contain pirates, outlaws and the sea! So I'm making a very loose list of books with this vibe as a guide for my self of past reads and TBRs! Please comment your recs!💕

Sometimes our childhood needs a little ✨️

Alice in wonderland, Cinderella, Mulan, Princess and the frog, Red riding hood, Little mermaid, Peter pan, Tarzan, Sleeping beauty, Snow white, Beauty and the beast, Rapunzel, ect...

Different genre so read at your own discretion 🤭

Forests, Fantasy and Foes - oh my! This is the ultimate list of shortform horror you would not read nowadays to your kid, of modern day novels with fairytale vibes, AND of literary classics that ingulge in innocent heroines, triple tasks and a bit o' incest. Get all your red painted roses, deep dark woodland paths, gingerbread cannibals houses, feminine rage and sentient objects right here. Don't forget to leave your reccs in the comments!

Why choose when you can have an infinite fall TBR 🤭 Here are the books that I had read in autumn but also others that I must read during this period🧸 There will be different genres such as horror, fantasy or cozy books ; and we are all here for this diversity 🍂˚ ༘ ೀ⋆｡˚☕️

Pirate books I’ve come across— both good and bad

Only the creepiest fairytale retellings will do.

This list centers on the fallacy of the hero villain dichotomy. I hope this selection of books will serve as a guide to question moral binaries, unlearn myths and challenge the reliability of a narrative told by the hero. Bexause what if the hero’s hands aren’t clean? What if the villain isn’t a monster but merely someone who didn’t play by the hero’s rules?

Retellings and reimaginings of different fairytales, folklore, and legends (only adding the first book for each series)

Bookcovers that are 10/10

(SPOILER: the books are a 10/10 too)

Sometimes there is a space where childhood loosens its ties to order and slips into something wilder. These stories trace what happens when rules fade and when games stop being harmless and begin to evoke instinct, fear, and cruelty. What emerges is not innocence, but something more uncertain: a line between imagination and reality that no longer holds.
