The Love Curse of Melody McIntyre

The Love Curse of Melody McIntyre

Robin Talley

Enjoyment: Quality: Characters: Plot:

Perfect for fans of Becky Albertalli and Nina LaCour, this romantic comedy from New York Times bestselling author Robin Talley has something for everyone: backstage rendezvous, deadly props, and a seemingly insurmountable obstacle to True Love. Melody McIntyre, stage manager extraordinaire, has a plan for everything. What she doesn’t have? Success with love. Every time she falls for someone during a school performance, both the romance and the show end in catastrophe. So, Mel swears off any entanglements until their upcoming production of Les Mis is over. Of course, Mel didn’t count on Odile Rose, rising star in the acting world, auditioning for the spring performance. And she definitely didn’t expect Odile to be sweet and funny, and care as much about the play’s success as Mel. Which means that Melody McIntyre’s only plan now is trying desperately not to fall in love.

EEEEEEE THEATRE BOOKS MAKE ME FEEL SO MUSHY AND GIGGLY ❤️ ESPECIALLY QUEER ONES ❤️

i've had this on my TBR since last year, i kept taking it out of the library and returning it, but i knew i needed to read it so i finally threw it on a readathon TBR and GOD am i glad i finally got to it!!

Melody, our narrator, is flawed and messy and earnest and optimistic and just has so much love in her heart to give and share and she's so wanting! and she struggles so much throughout the book with what parts of her heart to honor the most and i'm so glad she finally learned to honor her whole heart. i didn't love the challenge her friends gave her, and how unwilling they were to budge and how upset they were with her, but i do understand that she wasn't honest and that's hurtful!

watching Melody fall for Odile was sweet and syrupy and reminded me of having a crush on a girl! it's so much fun! and feels so all encompassing and that's okay sometimes!! Odile was so down to earth and steadfast and so much Good for Melody.

i also loved the "backstage" look into theatre productions!! when i did theatre in high school and college, i was always on stage as an actor, so getting to see the jobs for the crew and costumes and hair/makeup and the SM was really cool and insightful.

I JUST LOVED IT SO MUCH ❤️❤️❤️
