WITH OVER 1.5 MILLION COPIES SOLD . . . Chevy Stevens has garnered acclaim from literary giants, including Stephen King who called THOSE GIRLS “incredibly scary and suspenseful” and Gillian Flynn who called STILL MISSING “utterly absorbing.” With THE HITCHHIKERS, she forges new ground with a novel that will both terrify you and break your heart. On the remote Canadian highways in 1976, Tom and Alice set out to heal their fractured marriage. An RV, a new beginning, and the hope of recovery after a devastating tragedy. Then they meet two young hitchhikers, Ocean and Blue—a seemingly innocent couple who aren’t who they seem. . . . They are Jenny and Simon. And they have left a trail of blood, destruction, and madness behind them. Now Tom and Alice are trapped—prisoners in a deadly game, with nowhere to turn. But as the tension builds and the lines blur, the question becomes, In whose heart does evil truly lie? A chilling, twist-laden ride to the final page—THE HITCHHIKERS is a master class in suspense and shock.

Thank you to the publisher, the author and Netgalley for allowing me to have an ARC copy of this. All opinions expressed are completely my own. This was my first Chevy Stevens novel and I loved it. I've had a few of her other novels on my TBR for awhile but just haven't got to them. I think after reading this, I might have to move those ones up and get to them sooner. As someone who lives in BC, I really loved the setting for this. I often read so many novels taking place in other areas and it was so fun to be able to recognize the names and actually have a concept of where stuff was taking place. I really enjoyed getting to read this. It was suspenseful and gave me anxiety at points, but also I happened to just feel sad for some of the characters. I found Jenny to be a complex character, and I loved the depth that she was given. I also really liked Alice and her portrayal. It felt a lot more realistic to me than a lot of books but yet she still came off as brave and like a strong woman. I was also really happy with how this ended. Overall, a solid read. I really liked it.
I saw the big “twist” coming from a mile away. I still really enjoyed this.
