Prepare for the jaw-dropping finale to the beloved New York Times bestselling series. The long-imprisoned jinn are on the attack, wreaking bloody havoc in villages and cities alike. But for the Nightbringer, vengeance on his human foes is just the beginning. By his side, Commandant Keris Veturia declares herself Empress and calls for the heads of any and all who defy her rule. At the top of the list? The Blood Shrike and her remaining family. Laia of Serra, now allied with the Blood Shrike, struggles to recover from the loss of the two people most important to her. Determined to stop the approaching apocalypse, she throws herself into the destruction of the Nightbringer. In the process, she awakens an ancient power that could lead her to victory—or to an unimaginable doom. And deep in the Waiting Place, the Soul Catcher seeks only to forget the life—and love—he left behind. Yet doing so means ignoring the trail of murder left by the Nightbringer and his jinn. To uphold his oath and protect the human world from the supernatural, the Soul Catcher must look beyond the borders of his own land. He must take on a mission that could save—or destroy—all that he knows.

It's gonna be a no from me, dog.

I feel like most of my problems lie with me rather than with this book. If we're going on pure enjoyment, I'd probably give this a one star bc I just was so UGH. I'm giving it three because I truly think it's a three star book. It was okay, but it was a major disappointment compared to the rest of the series.

There's a reason I read over 50% romance this year. Because romance is pretty much always happy, and there's always a happy ending. People don't die. Nothing bad really happens. The only stressful thing is when they're dumb and don't have good communication.

Really, let's be honest. I'm fucking bitter Harper died. Like I'm F U C K I N G B I T T E R. I'm mad about Darin too. But mostly I'm just mad about Harper. OH MY GOD LIKE I'M SO FUCKING MAD ABOUT HARPER I DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO PUT IT INTO WORDS. Like I thought I was mad when Livia died. And then she fucking killed off Harper and I'm just like. Helene is the only character I cared about (okay not the only but she was my favorite), and her entire family is killed. Her lover is killed. Laia and Elias are running off into the sunset. Helene is the empress, but like??? That's not even what she wanted?? So everything just sucks for her??

I literally can't even talk about it right now I'm so fucking pissed.
