This is the second book in the Faebound series and it is just as engaging as the first! I love how this book opened up with a journal entry that served the purpose of recapping book one that sets the reader up to better understand what is to come. The story then continues with sisters Yeeran and Lettle navigating their new life in the fae world and the complexities of their relationships with each other and their partners. Unrest is all over not only Mosima, but the elven lands as well and tensions rise throughout this book. We are met with a new character and the multiple POVs throughout the story provide a great way to understand how there are many sides to every story. El-Arifi does an excellent job bringing diverse characters to the forefront without them becoming token characters. She also handles intricate topics such as class division and segregation well. There were a couple of bigger moments that I think were rushed by without as much depth as they deserved and some of the plot points felt a bit overused (miscommunication trope and secrecy). Overall though, the book was a great read that kept me wanting more and with that last twist at the end I can't wait for book three!

i am a forever fan of the author, I LOVED her other series the Ending Fire trilogy. sadly, this series isn't hitting the same for me. it could be the more romantasy aspect (alas, i'm not a romantasy reader), or that i'm the print version for this series, and read the audiobook for her other series... honestly idk. this story has loads of potential, but the plot, the characters, the purpose feels rushed and underwhelmingly undeveloped. i wanted more from the 1st and now 2nd book. i'll continue reading the trilogy.
