Venice, 1584. Isabetta Contarini, lover and muse of the young artist, Alessio Veneziano, has just passed away. Suddenly, and far too soon. Overtaken by the strength of his grief, Alessio retreats to the welcoming shadows of his studio, where memory stirs the flames of creation. Struck by a new undertaking, he works to bring forth the image of Isabetta from stone, and as time slips away, grief and passion combine to concieve a dark miracle.
