Need dark romance recs? 🖤🔥

Obsessive love. Toxic tension. Betrayal that tastes like devotion.

Enemies who touch like lovers. Soulmates who destroy.

Slow burns that scorch. Fast flames that consume.

If you want romance that hurts so good…
We got you 🫶🏻

*** Only the first book of the series have been added ***

Trope: characters are forced to engage in sexual intimacy or risk death. Often used to alleviate sexual tension that already exists between characters, but not always.

Ex:

• being exposed to aphrodisiacs or “sex pollen”
• kidnapped and forced to fuck each other or be murdered
• protagonist on a new planet needs cum to live
• a curse/spell that can only be broken by sex

Inherently a dub-con/non-con trope since one cannot freely consent to sex while under threat of death.

Accepting recs!

Stolen glances, secrecy, and emotions that refuse to stay quiet. Messy, intense, and addictive.

The ultimate list where our love interest goes full protective mode and suddenly says “touch her and die” or “do not lay a hand/finger on her” or some version of either.

All spice levels listed. As this is a microtrope, it may not be a big part of the plot. Recs welcome!

recs from a girl who loves books that simultaneously make her cry and heal her

Romances where the FMC has been victim of SA and is now healing and learning how to trust again or is assaulted 🍇 in the book itself and the after is part of the plot as well.

(Added some content to the recs in the comments. Please do your own research into the potential triggers as well before diving into any of these as some are quite dark.)

subgenres included; romantic suspense, thriller romance, action romance, mystery romance.

tropes can vary; spies/agents, detectives, serial killers, murder mystery, kidnapping, stalker, bodyguard, sole survivor, witness protection, and many more

disclaimer; some of these are heavier on romance while some have slight romance

Books that feature characters being held captive, imprisoned, kidnapped, etc. If it is a series, only the first book is listed. Some may be captivity adjacent & added via recommendation.

Books that just gutted me but I will recommend to others.. with a strong warning

Romances not for the faint of heart. The darker, the better.

FMC that has gone through it and is scared, vulnerable, painfully shy. Books with PTSD representation and a fair amount of trauma healing.

My dark obsession, all in one place.

Want that lingers where it shouldn't 🔥 I go feral for a forbidden romance 😝
