Recs if you like Heartstone (Heartstone, #1)...

I know there are a couple other dragon lists out there, but a lot of them were missing some of my favourites, so I'm just making my own!

These books the dragons will play a significant role in the plot, even if the focus of the book isn't dragons themselves (like the Hobbit).

For books in a series, I'll only be adding the first one.

Feel free to drop suggestions! I'm trying to include all the dragon books I can.

whether it's straight-up Jane Austen retellings, set in an alternative regency-era England, or a whole new world that has those prim and proper vibes, these books all introduce magic, spells, and perhaps even a bit of whimsy into the familiar regency setting (may also contain Victorian or Gregorian-era like fantasy novels, since they can have a lot of overlap in vibes!)

Why do we rewatch the 1995 and 2005 adaptations of Pride and Prejudice over and over again? Because it's a timeless story of love! So iconic are Austen's six novels that you can plop the characters and plot shapes in different times, countries, and planets, and you'll still feel the original at its core. This list is book adaptations (published fanfiction) of all six of Austen's novels. The character names don't have to match exactly, but we should know which book it's riffing off from.

Just an absolute butt-tonne of dragon books, baby!!

these are all cozy fantasy that I've read and am alr thinking about rereading

i would love to have jane austen injected directly into my veins but these books will just have to do in the interim

i love an additional vampire or werewolf or sea monster and i feel they can make classics more approachable

Dragons, Wyrms and all those other fire-breathing creepy crawlies! Even if not all the dragons in these books breathe fire in the first place (only the first book of a series is added to this list)
