With deadly creatures under his control, he plans to eradicate Beta once and for all to protect his kind and their peaceful way of life. But when a human woman saves him, she unknowingly creates a bond between them, one he can’t ignore. Even though her flaming red hair haunts his dreams, he needs her for information on the undine’s enemies. So he steals her. Keeps her. Feeds her. Only to realize their bond is far deeper than captor and captive. He cannot let her go—but he cannot keep her under the sea. In a battle to determine if love can survive a war beneath the waves, it will be their decision that changes the tides.

I was influenced to pick this book up as a quick monster smut book which isn´t as fast paced in the smut and has a bit of plot.
Even before we started with the first chapter the author made me laugh.
Especially the first half of the book had me interested and I was enjoying myself quite a bit. The writing style is easy to consume and fly through and having both POV was delightful.
Afterwards, I really wish the relationship was more developed and we got more background of the world. My main problem is the last third of the book and how rushed and how unresolved the "main conflict" and ending just felt. I was disappointed how easy and fast the book ended.
Still enjoyed the book and would have continued with the second book immediately, if it was released by now. Not sure if I will retain enough information to read the second book once it is released in the fall.
This was a BOTM in one of my book clubs, otherwise, Im not sure I would of picked this up personally. I liked that the MFC is an engineer, her “rebreather” is a really cool concept. This was an interesting story, kept me wanting to find out how it ends, and the relationship between the MCs was really cute. I liked how they couldnt really communicate for a while, and the challenges that came with that. The little Walee droid was a cool addition and had a cute but sad backstory. Kinda sensed some plot holes with the bot, like it spent 100 years on the sea floor, but couldnt open up (outside of that) and get even a splash of water on it or it’d break?
This does have a HEA but sets up another book without being too much of a cliff hanger, I appreciate that and will probably consider the next one when it releases to get his douchy brothers story.
