0 0Ewan is a third son of an Earl. He was also dyslexic and never learned to read. So his father considered him stupid and useless. So Ewan purchased a commission and went off to war. He ended up being a part of an elite secret ops type of group. His code name in the group was The Protector. So he’s hired by a Duke to be a bodyguard for his daughter, Lady Lorraine, to keep her from fortune hunters while she navigates the marriage mart. The girl has gotten it into her head to marry a pretty disreputable sort, a man only after her dowry. And consequently, Ewan’s cousin. Ewan happily takes the job, if only to thwart his cousin, his enemy from childhood. But the more time Ewan and Lorrie spend together, the more she begins to rethink her feelings for the man she wants to marry.
Lorrie was pretty annoying in the beginning. She seemed very young and immature. Headstrong and contrary. But she eventually calmed down and became a bit more likeable. Ewan was the strong, silent type, so it really was a matter of time before he captured Lorrie’s attention. I just didn’t quite understand what he saw in her. But nevertheless, these two grew on me. And it was cute seeing them get their HEA.
I will say that enjoy Ewan’s fellow “survivors” and I can’t wait to read their stories.
