This fourth book was a lot. All the questions get answered. So that’s good. It’s a lot going on with the time travel and going through history and the plot twists. But if you hang in there, I think it’s worth it in the end. This book did get a little more complicated with the theories/prophecy behind the time travel and why. But you’re mostly not confused by the end, so I take that as a win. The only thing is that we still don’t quite know who was trying to prevent the birth of the twins. So I guess that is one question that remains open. Also, I don’t think it was made quite clear who the fourth first family was or how Nick was related. Maybe we’ll get more into who the first families were in another book? I think the twins’ story is coming.
And for some reason, I was really slow on the uptake for some things. I simply did not pick up on a lot of the blatant clues that were dropped. For instance, I didn’t connect Quinn’s namesake until the author had to basically connect the dots for me. And again with Luna Reilly. It wasn’t until the author practically drew the family tree before I realized she was Nick’s grandmother. And I never would’ve guessed who Cecilia was to Henri and Sarah/Amelie.
Overall, this book was pretty good. The series was very good. I enjoyed it a lot. Sarah took an interesting turn, I will admit. It was unexpected to see her become … what she became. But it was apparently necessary for the story and it showed how she ended up being the person that we knew from the first two books. So again, it was kind of a bizarre twist but it ended up making sense overall. This book series may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s pretty satisfying if you stick with it.
