Recs if you like Be Dazzled...
Literally crafty characters
Sometimes the main character is into fiber arts, sometimes a side character is hand embroidering a jean jacket for her wife. All recs and craft types welcome.
THEATRE GAYS
Whichever performance art style you want, as long as it's queer. Also see my "Do Be a Drag" list for drag specific recs/TBR.
Books Matt Krause doesn't want you to read
All of these are from the list that Texas lawmaker Matt Krause in October of 2021 tried and in many cases succeeded to get banned from classrooms and school libraries. There are quite a few interesting and odd choices in there which is part of why I wanted to share this list on here. Not necessarily recommendations but there are some pretty good books on here. As well as a lot of textbooks
Audie Award-Winning Audiobooks from 2021-2026
Iโm an audiobook lover, and Iโm always looking for great audiobooks! Rather than just listing my favorites, I thought Iโd make a list of audiobooks that have won Audie Awards from 2021-2026.
There are so many, so I stuck to specific categories. Not all categories are in all years, so there is some inconsistency. I included the following categories:
- Audiobook of the year
- Autobiography/Memoir
- Erotica
- Spanish
- Fantasy
- Fiction
- History/Biography
- Humor
- Horror
- Literary Fiction
- Classics
- Middle Grade
- Mystery
- Nonfiction
- Romance
- Science Fiction
- Short Stories/Collections
- Thriller/Suspense
- YA/Teens
- Paranormal

Krause Banned Book List Project
In October 2021, Texas State Representative Matt Krause initiated an inquiry targeting a list of approximately 850 books in Texas public schools, alleging they could cause "discomfort, guilt, anguish, or any other form of psychological distress" regarding race or sex. The list disproportionately targeted LGBTQ+ topics, race/racism, and sex education.
This is my project to read through this list for myself - utilizing my local library system for access to these titles. Follow the journey or join along!
Books starring Queer Latinx Characters
May is Latinx Books Month, so we've put together a list of our favorite titles starring queer Latinx characters! (This list is presented by Duck Prints Press, the indie publisher focused on publishing queer art and stories by queer creators! A group of us collaborate to make these recommendations.)
"I'll be shining, like I'm born to be" (KPDH)
Characters that are comfortable in their own skin. Based on the song "Golden" from Kpop demon hunters.
If you like this list, check out my other KPDH inspired lists and comment there too.
