The art is fantastic, but I honestly don't think that this book gave any real reason to not be afraid of the dark. The concept was great, but the story fell a little flat, and honestly felt lacking. I read this one to my four-year-old niece, and it might have gone past her, as she actually felt scared once I finished, so I had to go back and explain it to her. I suppose my expectations going in were a bit high (since, c'mon, Lemony Snicket), but while the writing was fantastic, I still did not care too much for the story.
