At this point, I really don’t think you can go wrong with Freida McFadden, there’s a reason she’s my comfort author and this book is no exception.
This book is 460 pages and I finished it in one sitting, it is just that gripping.
I wasn’t sure how I felt about this at the beginning but by the end of the book I decided that I like how each part of the book is the same timeline, first day of semester all the way through to the night before the final exam, but each part is a different person’s POV. I feel like this helped to flesh out the characters more and you could get an insight into all of them. At the same time, each part has new information and provides a different insight into the previous character.
I will say however that I feel like there were too many different story/plot lines going on that it did get a bit overwhelming with all the information and it became hard to remember what happened earlier in the book. I’m also a little confused on what happened to Victor.
In terms of the characters, part 1 starts off with Heather and I wasn’t really a massive fan of her, because she came off as dumb and ditsy, but I was very happy with her ending.
Part 2 is about Abe and again I wasn’t a massive fan because he seemed a little clueless at times but as a lover of golden retriever boyfriends I did love the big teddy bear side of him.
Part 3 is about Rachel and as a romance girlie this may have been my favourite part bc of her relationship. Whilst it may have started off on a bad note, I felt her pain by the end of her part. I was also weirdly proud for her getting her revenge at the very end of the book.
Part 4 is about Mason and this is where I started to get confused, I can safely say I didn’t like him though. I still don’t really understand what happened to him.
Part 5 is about Sasha and this was probably my least favourite part in the book, I just didn’t really like Sasha at all and I don’t feel like her part in it all was really explained that well.
Part 6 is about Matt, the professor, and I feel like this was a nice short part to wrap up some of the unanswered questions.
Finally, part 7 was a nice short wrap up to the story and I absolutely loved the final chapter and I was happy that it was mainly a happy ending.
Overall, just like every Freida McFadden book, I absolutely recommend this book. But the synopsis on the back of the book is a little misleading as it’s not really about Heather’s story at all.
