Looking for a steamy summer read? The Kiss Quotient is just the ticket! Hoang was diagnosed in 2016 with Autism Spectrum Disorder and her own journey inspired this incredibly fun romance that is the first in a series.
Stella has Aspergers, but that doesn't stop her parents from pressuring her to get married. Stella doesn't know the first thing about dating, choosing to focus her time on algorithms to predict customer purchases, so she decides to hire someone to help her navigate the romance waters.
She hires Michael Phan, a professional escort, to help guide her through a lesson plan she had devised to teach her everything from kissing to...Well, you get the picture.
Before long, Stella has overcome her intimacy issues and the professional relationship starts blurring into a real one.
This reverse, "Pretty Woman," story is wildly witty and wildly steamy.
If you shy away from romance novels (*raising my hand*) I think you will find this romantic novel a lot more satisfying than, "50 Shades," could ever be!
Reading Challenge Completed- The first book in a new series.
What an adorable book! I really liked this couple and will be reading the second book. Autistic representation is so important and was really well done with this novel. I just wish that the end wasn’t so drawn out but I get why we needed the tension.
This book was a pretty average overall. This book revolves around Stella and her quest to get some experience within the dating world by hiring an escort named Michael. It was great to see the evolution of their relationship and watch them evolve as characters within the story. I felt as though the storyline was well done and easy to follow. I did find myself rooting for the characters as they made decisions about what to do with their life. Some of the scenes were definitely steamier than I expected them to be.
What I did not necessarily love about the book was that the characters seemed really cheesy at times and what they said was occasionally more cliche than I would have cared for. At times the story felt predictable, but overall it was a fun romance to read.
This was just what I needed.
Stella and Michael are perfect and their relationship felt so real. The awkward sex, the awkward social moments, meeting the family/parents, it all was just perfect.
4.5*
If I ever hesitate at all for a 5 star rating then I don’t give it, but this came extremely close!
Stella was such a relatable character for me and seeing inside her mind and the way she was written was just so incredible.
The steamy scenes were full of tension and SO sexy without being overtly graphic or long - honestly the perfect amount for a traditional romance imo.
I did tear up at a few sections, in particular the miscommunication that occurred (along with the dreaded 3rd act breakup) I thought was actually done pretty well. The feelings the characters were having and the events that followed made sense, and nobody was arguing or being pissed off for no reason which I find happens a lot in the 3rd act breakup.
Overall I’d highly recommend this one - it’s maybe not one I’d reread (I’m not a huge romance rereader anyway) but it’s so close to being a 5 star that it’s a book I’d recommend to almost anyone.
