Welcome to Midnight Fae Academy.Home of the Dark Arts.Vampires.And cruelly handsome fae.A forbidden bite led to my capture and recruitment. There are no flowers here.No life.Only death.I'm an Earth Fae who doesn't belong here. They can play their little mind games all they want, but I'm going to find a way back to my elemental world. Even if it kills me.Except Headmaster Zephyrus is one step ahead of my every move.Prince Kolstov won't stop cornering me.And Shadow--the reason I'm in this damn mess to begin with--haunts my dreams. My affinity for the earth is dying and being replaced by something more sinister. Something powerful. Something deadly. The Midnight Fae believe this is my fate. They claim that I was "recruited" for a purpose. To battle a rising presence.Or to die trying.I don't owe them a damn thing. But if I have to pass their trials to find my way home, then so be it. I survived a plague and far worse in the Elemental Fae realm. An ominous energy? Please. What a joke.Give it your best shot.I'm waiting. And don't you dare bite me.Or I'll make you regret it.Author Note: This is a dark paranormal reverse harem romance, and despite Aflora's opinions on the matter, there will definitely be biting. Shadow, aka Shade, guarantees it.

I needed this series, after becoming completely addicted to [b:Elemental Fae Academy: The Complete Trilogy|50668942|Elemental Fae Academy The Complete Trilogy|Lexi C. Foss|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1580091676l/50668942._SY75_.jpg|75687462] and apparently landing in a never-ending book hangover. We did meet Aflora in the EFA trilogy and there are more tie-ins throughout, so you may want to read this first. (Cover & link to book 1 are below).
The writing is impressive, and the world is one I wouldn’t mind visiting; though it’s a bit dark at times, it’s more intriguing. Aflora is a brilliantly designed character who I instantly loved and continuity from meeting her in her own world, that of the elemental fae is on point.
Also: even though I basically did accurately guess how this book turned out, there was a little twist I hadn’t expected. I’m always super impressed by any little detail that I don’t manage to predict because it’s super rate.
Character development and the interpersonal relations are highly advanced. I got really into the various connections and enjoyed some really sweet moments between, not just Aflora and the respective men, but the men themselves. Brilliant writing.
Ends on a cliffhanger, but book 2 is out now, so no worries.
Note:
I both read the ebook and listened to the audiobook.
Audiobook remarks: There are multiple narrators, all with smooth, easy-to-listen-to voices and clear enunciation. The team definitely adds to the reading experience. Well done!
Also: Great continuity. Ella’s appearance in this one sounded the same (if it’s not the same, it’s def close enough) as she did in [b:Ella's Masquerade|50397222|Ella's Masquerade (Midnight Fae Academy ##0.5)|Lexi C. Ebook remarks: Absolutely stunning. One of the prettiest book interiors I’ve ever seen. And editing is well done, content is free of distracting errors.
Therefore:
Ebook: 5 stars
Audiobook: 5 stars
Narrators’ performances: 5 stars to everyone.

The world-building alone warrants ALL the stars. 10 out of 5. This world is much like a drug; I’m addicted and will never get enough.
