Recs if you like Fifty Shades of Grey...

"He is literally just a guy. Hit him with your car."

AKA, a selection of "book boyfriends" that actually suck. Featuring red flags ranging from an emotionally unavailable Irish lad to a man who locks up his wife in an attic.

Recommendations welcome. No judgment if you enjoy these books; this list was inspired by my own obsession with Heathcliff, toxic lover extraordinaire, as a teen.

Books you will find on any given thrift store shelf in the US, for better or worse 😂 For books in a series or by prolific authors, I’ve only included one book so as not to overwhelm the list.

Suggestions welcome!

I think it goes without saying but just in case… I’m not necessarily recommending these books by having them on this list. (In fact I wouldn’t recommend many of these.) This is for fun!

When books turn knotty naughty and one of the characters gets tied up. 🤭😏 ‘Cause I might be bad, but I’m perfectly good at it… 🎶 Nothing like some bondage scene to spice things up. From shibari to handcuffs, from tentacles to cowboys who really know how to use a lasso, and wether the FMC or MMC is the one restrained, there is a little bit of everything in here.

I haven’t read every book here, so please correct me if I am wrong somewhere. Suggestions are always very welcum 💦

Have you ever started reading a novel when all of a sudden, you are struck with crazy déjà vu? Deep down, you know you have read this book before even thought this is your first time picking it up. Lo and behold, you have read this book before! But, at the time it was 2am and you were knee deep into your Ao3 fanfiction.

Books that have been made into TV shows or movies. It always amazed me how many there are.

As always feel free to recommend any I missed!
