Oh my god. This is such an incredible book and is so wonderfully readable! It definitely has a few darker elements that probably would be more suited to 14 and up but those elements are the components that make the story stand out.

I won’t give a summary of the plot (bc it’s literally right THERE guys) but I really love the way the author wrote about Xan and Luna’s relationship. It’s very sweet and reminds me of my own relationship with my grandmother. I also like the bits where it seems as though a mother is telling a child a bedtime story. (Oh god, the way it made sense at the end was so satisfying).

This book really helped pull me out of my reading slump and I’m so glad I picked the book up (I was judging it based on its cover - best decision ever).

    2.5 stars

This book really wasn't the one for me. It wasn't bad, but I really couldn't get into the story, even though the writing style was beautiful. Because the beautiful writing style and the takeaway messages of the story grief and love, and that consequences have consequences, I decided to give it 2.5 stars.

What a magical middle grade novel!

Perfect for those who enjoyed Six Crimson Cranes and the whimsical world of fairy tales and folklore.

Told through multiple POVs, this is the story of Luna and how magic can be both a curse and a blessing. Bringing together so many people but not before breaking them apart.

This magical tale will have you flipping pages just to see what happens next. The adventure was nonstop. And of course what not to love about a tale of witch’s and dragons.

I did of course have a few questions that were left unanswered. Such as why [REDACTED] kept the truth to her husband go off into the forest after something she knew wasn’t true? It was little loose ends and oversights like that that seemed to add up and thus not make this fully 5 stars.

But trust me, if you give this to your younger middle grade child or teen, they will enjoy it without a thought in the world.

i’m so disappointed ! since it’s a children’s book, i thought there would be action and a lot of magic but it was mostly boring
