Coming from just finishing Evocation a couple days ago, this is the perfect read to see more of Rhys and Moira together in their haunted house romance. We still get a glimpse of David and establishes the relationships going forward into Evocation but this gives more clarity to the events mentioned but not fully described. I appreciated having more time with these characters, their love for each other is inspiring. I don't think you need to read Evocation first to enjoy this little novella seeing this was released in 2018, but having the novel to go with this novella made it a better experience for me seeing I knew who these characters were. I think you could read this first or Evocation first and it won't matter either way, if you read Odd Spirits first you just have more context of the backstory going into Evocation but isn't as necessary. If you love these characters, if you love their love and romance, I do recommend.

Oh how I wish I would have read this before Evocation, because I would have rated it higher!

I flew through this novella! I loved getting to see how Rhys and Moiras relationship started in the flashbacks, and their slice of life in the first years of their marriage. When I read Evocation, I was disappointed because I didn't feel like I had any attachment to the characters, there was just something missing...well the verdict is in, THIS WAS MISSING!

I also just loved the story and found alot of meaning behind it. If you harbor secrets and aren't transparent about your fears and feelings in your marriage, it will eventually turn rotten with resentment.

I'm on my way to raise the rating on evocation!

THANK YOU TO NETGALLEY AND THE PUBLISHER FOR the advanced listening copy in exchange for my honest review
